Osterholm: "We're screwed."

It's almost not worth posting this because it is going to be so widely quoted, but I will anyway because it's so accurate. Asked at a breakfast meeting for the press at NIAID what we could do if a bird flu pandemic hit today, Dr. Michael Osterholm, one of the world's experts on infectious disease public health and director of The Center for Infectious Disease Reserch and Policy (CIDRAP) could only say:

"I don't know what we could do about it except say, 'We're screwed.'" (via USNews.com)

Thanks, CDC, for getting us ready in time to get screwed.
