Freethinker Sunday Sermonette: the deserving of this world

Sunday again, time to reflect on the deserving of this world, or, if we can't think of any, at least those in this world who deserve each other. Like Pat Robertson and the greedy bastards in Israel who were only too glad to do business with him until he inserted his non-Kosher foot in his fetid mouth and started speaking.

Demented Old Pat was the main backer of a "biblical theme park" (the mind boggles) on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, but made the mistake of gloating over ex-war criminal (how quickly we forget) Ariel Sharon's massive stroke. Sharon used to be high on the good old boy list among Fundie Christians until he decided to pull troops out of the occupied Gaza Strip. And Robertson used to be one of the good old boys in Israel until he said what many of his Evangelical cohorts were thinking but not saying:
"He was dividing God's land, and I would say: 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course', he told viewers of his long-running television show. "God says: 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone'." (The Guardian)
Nice. Historic area. Zoned for Jews and Christian Fundamentalists.

So senile old Pat pissed off the Israeli rightwingers by being indiscreet, but they'll still do business with the rest of that smarmy crowd if they just behave orally. Which they'll probably do, because the Christian Right is very, very pro Israel. Why?
Fundamentalist Christians believe that in order for Jesus to return, two preconditions are Jewish control of the land of Israel and the conversion of the Jews to Christianity. (also The Guardian)
We properly beat up on crazy Muslims who commit crimes in the name of Allah. But these guys are crazy too.

As I said, they deserve each other. But do we deserve them?
